Welcome on board the pirate Prudence Fairweather’s official website
Prudence is a very clever and very attractive pirate. Her stories are set around two hundred years ago, (we are quite relaxed about this!) in a world incredibly similar to this one. Although the books are basically fun it is a worrying thought that evil could be attacking our world, just as it is attacking the world of the pirate girl. I am not sure we have a Prudence to save us. The books contain a mixture of all the things I enjoy. So they are about love, adventure, mystery, the unexplained, demons and ghosts. They are set on the tropical islands of Heffen, islands steeped in superstition and mythology. For as long as I can remember, I have been a huge fan of Amazon women. That is strong, self sufficient, clever, witty, sexy, sassy, kick arse ladies. Prudence is so beautiful, she is impossible to capture on canvas. On the downside she is moody and can often behave a bit like a petulant child. The stories are told through the eyes of the scholar and historian, Thomas Anders. Despite being an expert on the history of the islands, Thomas has never strayed far from his father’s parish in northern England. He has however being dreaming of Prudence Fairweather for as long as he can remember. I have had great feedback to the first two Prudence books and hope that by opening the web site, she will continue to grow even more as a cult figure. ‘Hathia’s Rainbow’ I wrote this short story a while ago with a website in mind. It is impossible to capture the feel of a full length book, but it does give a little bit of a flavour of what Prudence is about. I have also included extracts from the two books ‘The Pirate of Heffen’ and ‘Efulric the Apprentice’, as well as the yet unpublished (and untitled) third book. I have two other non Prudence books completed (well almost!) for which I have no publishing deal yet. Both include strong independent women. I will bring more news on this when I have some. Other sections here cover some of my other interests and also act as a pointer to some of the things, particularly cult TV, which has influenced my writing. Music is very important to me and so is the little steam railway running around my garden. As for me, I am married with three children, two dogs (border collies) two cats and a horse. We are a very close family. As well as all my other interests, I also collect things! Andy Taylor 2007 |
